ABOUT MONGOMERY GOES PURPLE:

Montgomery County is hosting the 8th Annual International Overdose Awareness Ceremony & Vigil in Memorial Plaza, Downtown Rockville along with the 2nd Annual Recovery Month Kickoff. Recovery Month is an international observance to celebrate recovery and encourage individuals with a mental health or substance use disorder to seek recovery. Events like this, can reduce the negative stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorder, and promote prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery. 

There were a record high 109,680 lives lost to substance use disorder in 2022, and our goal is to raise awareness and encourage people in need of recovery to reach out for help and to ensure that help is accessible to everyone. 

Recovery Month and  other prevention, treatment, and recovery focused events and activities occur throughout September and continue year round. Your generous donation will help us to reach more students and adults alike.
